Sheikh Ali Rashid Al Balushi has more than 20 years of experience in a wide range of fields which include administration, finance, human resources, development, planning, quality management, team work and building relations with other institutions in both the private and public sector. 

Sheikh Ali is currently the advisor for planning and follow-up in The Public Authority for Investment promotion and Export Development (Ithraa), where he manages the Chairman’s responsibilities in his absence since 2011. Previously, he was the Director General of Administration and Finance in Ithraa between the years 2006 to 2015, where he was involved in a range of committees within Ithraa, as well as others in other sectors such as the COMEX exhibition Committee in the years 2010-2011. Previous to that, he was the Director of Administration and Finance in OCIPED between 1997 and 2006, as well as the Head of Administration of Finance and the Director General of Specification and Measurement at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. 

Furthermore, Sheikh Ali had the opportunity to engage within different committees and boards such as the Deputy Chairman of Oman International for Investment and Development Co., a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Middle East College, and the Management Representative of the Quality Management System in Ithraa, where Ithraa was the first governmental body in Oman that was ISO certified in quality management. In addition, he was the Team Manager in charge of implementing the Invest in People standard in Ithraa which is a great accomplishment as Ithraa was one of the first public sector organisations in the Middle East that was certified in this field.  

Since 1992, Sheikh Ali has obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and Political Science from Jordan University where he also was elected as the Head of the Omani Student Association in 1989. In addition, he has attained a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Bournemouth University in 2005 where he had participated as the Head of the team that organised an exhibition and a series of events to introduce Oman to the international community at Reading University in 2002.
