Under the Patronage of His Majesty, the Diwan of Royal Court Launches the National Leadership and Competitiveness Program
Under the patronage of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos – May God protect him - the Diwan of Royal Court, represented by the Institute of Capability Development (ICD), launches the National Leadership and Competitiveness Program (NLCP) for the government sector, an initiative by the Public Private Partnership Taskforce (Sharaka).
The program is an example of the Public-Private Partnership Taskforce’s (Sharaka) ambition to drive people development (leadership, management and professional) in both public and private sectors. This program intends to develop those capabilities required by the labour market to unlock cross-sector economic performance and growth in Oman.
“Subheading” Mr. Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidi commented:
- The Program is an interpretation of the wise vision of the country's monarch - may God protect him
- The Program will contribute to building a community of Omani leaders on a global level in the government sector
HE Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, said in a press release, "This Program is only a reflection of the wise vision and insights of His Majesty the Sultan, where he has in many occasions asserted the need to develop human resources and that people are the cornerstone in the development of any society, which is the goal and purpose of development.”
His Excellency stressed that the launch of the Program comes after the success of the National CEO Program initiative in the private sector. In addition, it builds on the Undersecretary program delivered last September. The PPP Taskforce believe it is essential to continue with such learning initiatives that raise the efficiency of executive leadership in both public and private sectors. The program is targeted at the public sector, emphasising its central role in steering future development. In addition it aims to align efforts to drive the national agenda, to promote sustainable development and to encourage best practice partnership with the private sector. The National Leadership and Competitiveness Program for the Undersecretary stream was launched in September 24, 2016 and was concluded on February 26, 2017
This Program will contribute to building a community of Omani leaders capable of operating at an international level in the government sector. This will enhance the Sultanate's competitiveness, progress national priorities, and so enable the sector to play its role in the social and economic development of the Sultanate.
The program offers a unique learning experience for the target group of 35 Omani public sector participants. The participant group will comprise Director Generals, Assistant Director Generals, Advisors, Experts and their equivalents from all the governorates of the Sultanate, where priority will be given to those directly related to the business environment.
Participants will undergo a rigorous, transparent and fair selection process. Successful applicants will participate in the 8 month program, delivered both in Oman and overseas. The learning journey involves face-taught modules comprising classroom and experiential learning, leadership coaching and international study tours. The learning is applied through strategic projects.
The NLCP program team will provide all relevant information related to the program application, selection, and learning process at the upcoming Press Conference. This will include information about the admissions process, criteria and deadlines for application.
The date for the Press Conference will be announced shortly.
